Global Employee Engagement & Leadership Survey 2010
Have Your Say...
Organisations across the Asia Pacific are looking to maximise the contribution of each individual toward corporate goals. Individual employees are seeking a meaningful connection and personal satisfaction from their work. So “Employee Engagement” really is win:win for both parties.
But are the business leaders of our region getting it right? And, how do we in the Asia Pacific compare to the rest of the globe?
The BlessingWhite Employee Engagement & Leadership Survey 2010 is your chance to contribute to Employee Engagement research and help make our organisations better places to work. It’s an opportunity to have a say regarding how you feel about your work, your leaders and discover whether or not current engagement and leadership strategies are really working.
We're looking for insights from individuals and even entire organisations.
Why Are We Still Talking About Employee Engagement?
BlessingWhites’ Global Employee Engagement Survey in 2008 found that the Asia Pacific region is performing OK by global standards. However, only around one – in – three employees are truly engaged.
So only around 33% of employees are turning up to work enthused and in gear while, for the rest, it’s ‘another day, another dollar’. With the cost of disengaged employees already well known to business leaders surely this is something we need to work on.
What Will The Employee Engagement Survey 2010 Achieve for Individuals and Businesses?
Now, 2 years after the previous Employee Engagement survey, we need your help to see what (if anything) has changed. Are employers getting the most from their people? Are employees connecting with their work in a way that gives them personal satisfaction?
But this survey is about much more than determining whether our workforce is engaged or not. Employee Engagement is more complex than a black-white, true-false comparison.
Although one of the aims in 2010 is to determine broad engagement levels across the region, this survey will help our business leaders recognise the varying levels of engagement and draw comparisons across many variables such as position in the organisation, age, gender and industry to name a few.
Survey Less, Act More!
Above all, the data collected through this process will be combined to formulate practical engagement and leadership strategies and answer critical questions such as:
- Are our business leaders doing enough to engage their followers? No followers, no leaders
- What engagement methods are working and which aren’t? Why waste your precious money?
- What would most improve people's satisfaction and performance at work? Wouldn't you want people to love coming to work?
- Does engagement have any bearing on retention? This can cost us a fortune
- How do employees feel about their direct managers and senior leaders? Yes, that's you!
- Do employees feel their talents being maximised? What a waste if they are not
- Are we engaging our new Gen Y employees? They don't all want the corner office
- And many, many more!
By answering these questions we will be able to formulate actionable insights and recommendations to guide leaders in their quest to improve the state of employee engagement in their organisation.

What is Employee Engagement?
Employee Engagement has long been emphasised as a key driver of business success but it involves a delicate balance between the needs of individual employees and the organisation alike.
While it is clear that 'engaged' employees offer a greater contribution to corporate goals, each individual must also discover a personal connection and satisfaction with their work to remain enthused and in gear. That's why BlessingWhite believes that; "aligning employees' values, goals and aspirations with those of the organisation is the best method for achieving the sustainable employee engagement required for an organisation to reach its goals."
Therefore, full engagement represents an alignment of maximum job satisfaction ("I like my work and do it well") with maximum contribution ("I help achieve the goals of my organisation").
