Most Senior Executives need a businessperson who happens to be a coach, not a coach who happens to work in business. Big, big difference. I can assure you there’s nothing worse than using a coach who’s not on your wavelength, who you have to “coach” about business on your time, at your cost. First of all, I only coach Senior Leaders; CEO’s, MD’s, GM’s or Functional Directors. So I really understand your world. Cash flow, product and service differentiation, legal compliance issues, rising costs, a board insistent on profitable growth, getting great people, keeping great people, offshore competition, technology that at times just doesn’t do what it supposed to, and a family and friends wondering will this ever end, when do they get to see you and really be with you?
Secondly, I love business. I love the buzz of it, the generation of ideas, coming up with new possibilities and most importantly, getting results. And I understand the language of business. Sure I’m no Michael Porter, Tom Peters or Gary Hammel; but I get strategy, I get competitive advantage, I know the numbers. As a Director of three separate businesses of my own, I have a real feel (albeit on a much smaller scale) of the issues you face every day.

Coaching is fundamentally a goal driven process. We’ll work together in our first few sessions establishing needs and setting clear goals and outcomes you would like to achieve from working together. And we will continually refer to them throughout the year to make sure you’re keeping yourself accountable and that we are on target. Oh yes, the goals will be your goals. They’ll be personalised. Your unique goals for your unique ambitions and challenges. I won’t dish you up a set programme you have to complete for each session like many coaches insist on. It’s tailored to your issues, your needs, your style, your pace.
Although each individual has their own personal and organisational challenges and goals, there are similarities; there are patterns at this level. I know what they are, can point them out quickly, and then help you move so much faster to focus on solutions.
It’s All Mental
As important as my business experience is, I think it’s my experience and insights as a Registered Psychologist (PS0030802) that my clients most value. After 8 years of study, 30 years of experience and literally thousands of books and hundreds of development hours, I’ve been able to sort through a lot of the “fluff” that’s out there, distil it, and only use techniques and processes that get incredible results in a very short space of time.

Mondo Rock!

I call it the “Mondo Rock” session (yes I’m Baby Boomer), where the two of us just get together, “chew the fat” and see “if the chemistry is right”. And it may not be, you may want more of a technical specialist in your area, or someone who’s a little less extroverted, or someone who will provide you with a set formula or structure. That’s not me.
