Higher Ground: transforming good leaders into great leaders
FAQ & Prices
How many participants can be involved in the higher ground workshop?
You can immerse up to 24 leaders in the Higher Ground programme.
How long is the workshop?
The workshop is usually conducted over a 6 to 12 month period. It really depends on your organisation and how you would like to pace the sessions. We’ve found this time frame works for most organisations.
Who should / needs to be involved?
We suggest that you select your participants from various sectors of your organisation. Typically, organisations like to choose people who are new to key leadership roles or who’s ability to lead/influence others would benefit the organisation. There is no ‘typical’ participant, you could select people from senior management right through to front line staff.
Is there much development time involved?
In short, yes. Because we tailor each programme to your specific leadership needs we will need to spend some time with key stake-holders in order to decide on the best approach. This is usually done face to face but can also be discussed on the phone. We want to determine which development areas will benefit your organisation.
Is there much work to do between sessions?
Yes. This is where the real work happens. Many of the components require that the participants practice their learning’s back on the job. Specific exercises may require completion before workshop or coaching sessions e.g. 360 Degree Feedback tools.
Where are the workshop sessions held?
This is entirely up to the client. Some clients wish to hold the workshop sessions at an off-site location while others prefer to host the sessions at their own premises. If there are specific venue requirements e.g. space, we will notify you well in advance. It is the responsibility of the client to book an appropriate venue.
Is the leadership coaching component necessary?
No, but we have found that many participants benefit from the one on one interaction with a coach. Often people are able to tackle leadership issues much better in this environment rather than in a group or workshop setting. Coaching is also a good opportunity to revisit workshop learning or to look at specific or personal issues that are not addressed in the workshops.
How much does it cost and what does my investment include?
Because the Higher Ground Programme is tailored to each organisation it is difficult to provide an exact dollar figure. There are a few things that can determine the cost of the programme:
- How many participants do you have?
- Will you include coaching for your leaders?
- Will you be using profiling tools such as 360 Degree Feedback?
- Have your participants already covered some components in other development initiatives?

Your “Raving Fans” Guarantee
We realise that this programme is a big investment for your organisation. That’s why we are committed to ensuring you walk away from this experience a ‘Raving Fan’.
If you’re not 100% satisfied with the programme we will refund all training fees in full! But more than that, we will also come back and spend up to 1.5 hours with you to find out where it may have fallen short, what else you need and how it can be fixed.
The only condition being that we ask the following of each of your participants:
- That they enter into the spirit of the workshop and actively participate.
- They do any associated pre and post workshop exercises.
- That Senior Management are involved with workshop and support follow up implementation initiatives.

What Others Say
In 2003 I introduced Paul and the team of The Human Enterprise to the Senior Leadership team at St Vincents & Mater Health. Not surprisingly their experience was overwhelming and resulted in the development of a unique Leadership Development Programme, targeted at future leaders within the health care setting.
To date 100 participants have commenced their journey with Paul and the impact of the programme has exceeded our expectations.
Kerrie Field General Manager, St Vincents & Mater Health, Sydney
Key to the success of our strategy has been our partnership with The Human Enterprise and their delivery of the SAP ANZ Higher Ground program. Prior to introducing the program, few of our managers invested sufficient time in the people aspects of their roles. The Higher Ground program has helped us to build a Leadership culture in the organisation with dramatic improvements in employee satisfaction, engagement and the overall business results. Leaders have a better understanding of our expectations of them as leaders.
Participants believe that we have made a significant investment in their leadership capability and now have both the skill and will to lead. Many participants rated the Higher Ground Program as life changing, gaining a significantly better perspective on their strengths and development needs as a leader. All participants saw the program as practical, thought provoking and highly relevant.

The Human Enterprise has become synonymous with the quest for developing today’s and tomorrows leaders within CSFB Operations across the Asia Pacific region.
We have made great strides in transforming CSFB into an organisation where leadership skills are now at the forefront of everyone’s minds, where we challenge processes and strive for improvement, value that we are human and need to make our workplaces an enjoyable and fun place to be. Our corporate culture has metamorphasised!
We salute you Paul Mitchell & The Human Enterprise!

Congratulations once again. From the feedback received to date, the Leadership Development Workshop was an exceptional experience for our young partners.
The board of Horwath Australia met last week and received the participants feedback and asked me to pass on to you their appreciation for the contribution you and your team have made over a long period of time to the development of our leadership talent.
Michael Stibbard ex Managing Director, Horwath Australia Ltd. (Now Partner, Growth Solutions, Deloitte)
You may recall that I participated in the SAP L5 (Higher Ground) course that you lead a couple of years back. After a period of personal reflection and change I can really appreciate the experience and find myself using much of the learning on a daily basis.
In short, I wanted to thank you for assisting me in my journey. You have provided me with the tools that are life-long, not training course long
